BISP was supposed to reduce the financial burden of the people by subsidizing the ration of Rs.2500 Unfortunately, the system was facing many problems due to which this utility store subsidy is being stopped. Following are some common reasons.

  • BISP beneficiaries live in remote and rural areas where utility stores are not available and therefore their ration subsidy is not accessible.
  • Many beneficiaries are not aware that they are eligible for ration subsidy along with the BISP financial assistance and therefore miss out on ration subsidy.

To address these issues, the government has announced a change in the subsidy distribution of Rs.2500
Beneficiaries no longer need to visit the utility store, but now the subsidy amount given to them by the utility store will be directly transferred to their BISP account.

Now they will be able to get an additional Rs.2500 directly with their monthly payment of Rs.10500
That means they will be given a total amount of 13 thousand rupees every three months.

The new system is designed to ensure that the beneficiaries can get their subsidy amount without any hassle and they do not have to waste time in long queues.
