Objectives of the Green Tractor Scheme
The main objective of the Green Tractor Scheme is to provide tractors to the farmers of Punjab. At this time in the morning, in different districts of Punjab, compared to one tractor, cultivated land ranges from 23 to 127 acres. Which is an average of 57 acres compared to one tractor, i.e. tractor to tillage ratio is 57.
Although this ratio is better than that, the level of commercialization has a significant positive effect on the cost of production, income and rate of return for all types of crops. Currently, 541 thousand tractors are working in the province.
Providing 20,000 tractors to farmers through subsidy will increase the level of mechanization to 3.69% which means significant improvement in overall carp production.

Benefits of the Green Tractor Scheme
The scheme will help bridge the current gap in tractor-to-farmland ratio in Punjab, which is 57 acres per acre. Research shows that a one percent increase in farm mechanization leads to a significant increase in the production of cereals, cash crops and other types of agriculture. Farmers will be able to produce more with better mechanization.
Their overall income and financial stability will increase. By using modern tractors and machinery, more efficient farming can be done and labor costs can be reduced and time is also saved.
With Punjab’s fertile soil and potential to increase cropping intensity, the government aims to encourage farmers to plant multiple crops every year because agriculture is the backbone of any country, if the soil is better, the country will grow and prosper.
